With the surge in fuel prices, savings on gas has become more critical than ever. The good news is that there are numerous methods to lower your INFINITI's fuel consumption and enhance your gas mileage. Follow the INFINITI fuel efficiency management tips below to reduce your fuel expenses. Maintain Your Vehicle Keep your INFINITI well-maintained by adhering to the vehicle's service schedule to cut down on your fuel expenses. Routine oil changes will reduce friction between the fast-moving engine components, preventing the engine from working harder and burning more gas. Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Energy states that using the correct oil can enhance your vehicle's fuel consumption by up to two percent. It's also important to replace the spark plugs and filters regularly to avoid any negative impact on your vehicle's fuel efficiency due to fouled plugs and dirty filters. Properly Inflation Your Tires Proper tire inflation is essential because it directly impacts your vehicle's fuel consumption. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, underinflated tires can increase gas mileage by up to three percent. Reduce the Weight Hauling excess weight can significantly impact your INFINITI's fuel consumption. Steer clear of accessories such as bike racks, cargo boxes, and roof racks, which can decrease fuel efficiency by up to eight percent in urban areas and 17 percent on highways. Plan Your Routes The U.S. Department of Energy cautions that multiple short trips can consume twice as much fuel as longer ones. To cut down on gas expenses, plan your trips and the routes you are going to use in advance. Instead of making separate trips, try consolidating them into one, taking the shortest route with the least traffic. Limit Idling Turn off your engine, even for short durations, to avoid idling for extended periods. The U.S. Department of Energy warns that idling can consume up to a half-gallon of fuel per hour, depending on your vehicle's engine's size. In the winter, driving slowly for a few blocks will be more efficient than idling to warm up the engine. This approach helps minimize emissions and conserve fuel. Reduce Your Speed Drive carefully, follow the speed limit, and avoid sudden acceleration. Driving at speeds exceeding 50 miles per hour increases fuel consumption. The U.S. Department of Energy states that lowering your speed by 5 to 10 mph can improve your vehicle's gas mileage by up to 14 percent. Incorporating these fuel efficiency management tips into your daily driving routine will help you to reduce your INFINITI's fuel consumption. Plan your trips, reduce your speed, and ensure your vehicle is well-maintained. Contact Kerry INFINITI of Northern Kentucky in Fort Wright, KY, today to arrange an appointment.
